Get in
By car
Avalon's very easy to reach by car. Either take the Garden State Parkway or use Route 55 and 47 to avoid traffic coming into Ocean City and Sea Isle City.
By bus
Greyhound buses from Atlantic City, Philadelphia, and New York City have stops in Avalon.
By train
NJ Transit has a train station in Atlantic City. Trains from Philadelphia, New York, and Trenton arrive several times a day. From the train station, go to the Greyhound bus hub and take a bus that heads toward Cape May. Avalon is one of the stops.
Beach badges are required for all visitors aged 12 and older from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Daily, weekly, and seasonal badges are available at beach entrance points.
Get around
Avalon's a small town and most beaches are within walking distance. Cars, cabs, bikes, and shuttles are other methods that can be used to get around the town.
Eat
Eat Circle Pizza
Circle Pizza is owned and operated by the Buchanans, descendants of Avalon's original pizza family headed by patriarch Mario Vozzella. Mario’s two daughters, Eleonora and Camilla, along with their husbands, Paul Buchanan and Joseph Damiri opened Avalon Pizza on 23rd and Ocean Drive in 1968.
Stay safe
Avalon's police force is extremely strict and traffic laws are enforced rigorously. Do not speed above the limit. The town's main roads are all equipped with cameras and speed limit trackers to catch careless drivers. It is very unwise to drink and drive, especially after the bars close. Cops are always outside when the bars let out and have no problem pulling over cars and breathalyzing the passengers. Follow the rules and you will be fine.
Avalon is a very safe town. Violent crime is extraordinarily rare and even women can walk around at night with nothing to fear.
