Understand
Latrobe's history isn't limited to its coal mining and industrial heritage. This small city is home to the invention of the banana split ice cream treat, the first openly professional American football players, and the birthplaces of golfer Arnold Palmer and children's television titan Mr. (Fred) Rogers.

Arnold Palmer Regional Airport was the airport closest to Latrobe; it is found in the surrounding township of Unity. Spirit Airlines was the only airline with scheduled passenger service at this small airport, so when it shut down in May 2026, all scheduled passenger service halted.
