Get in
By car
State Route 525 (WA-525), the Mukilteo Speedway, is the main highway from the south. It leads to the ferry terminal to Clinton on Whidbey Island.
- From I-5 northbound, take Exit 182 in Lynnwood.
- From I-405, drive through the I-5/I-405 junction instead of turning onto I-5.
State Route 526 (WA-526), the Boeing Freeway, is another entrance from the east.
- From I-5 southbound, take Exit 189 in Everett and cross the north end of Paine Field. As the road curves south into Paine Field Blvd go west 84th St W towards Mukilteo Speedway (SR-525).
W Mukilteo Blvd winds its way up into Everett (south of downtown) where it becomes 41st St. It is not designated as a state or US Highway.
By ferry
Washington State Ferries (WSF) operates the Mukilteo / Clinton route, connecting Whidbey Island to the Puget Sound mainland and the Seattle metro area.
Go Mukilteo Terminal
Ferries from Clinton on Whidbey Island. 20 minutes one way; departures every 30 minutes.
Fares are one-way for vehicles, and round-trip for passengers. Fares are calculated based on sailing time and season, type and length of vehicle and the amount and ages of passengers. For example, fares during a summer weekend in 2025 are:
- $13.90 for a standard 14-22 ft car and its driver
- $6.25 for additional adult passengers and walk-ons from Mukilteo (free from Clinton)
- $1.00 for each ride-on bicycle from Mukilteo, in addition to the passenger fare (free from Clinton)
This run is popular with commuters as well as weekend vacationers. There may be a wait of a few hours for vehicles during peak times.
By train
Go Sounder train
A weekday commuter train between Everett and Seattle King Street Station via Edmonds and Mukilteo.
By plane
Go Paine Field (PAE, also known as Snohomish County Airport)
Limited commercial flights are with Alaska Airlines. Other airlines may follow suit in time as the terminal expands. Everett Transit (Rt #8) provides service to a transit hub at Seaway Transit Center and the downtown Everett Station, where buses to the region can be found.
The next nearest airport for more commercial flights with a wider array of airlines is at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA, "Sea-Tac" for short) 45 mi (72 km) south of Mukilteo, which serves much of the greater Seattle Metropolitan area and the Pacific Northwest.
Get around
Mukilteo Station is the transit hub in Mukilteo. It is in the parking lot next to the ferry terminal, and is the terminus for routes operated by Community Transit and Everett Transit.
- The following routes terminate at the Mukilteo Station:

Communities within the county served by this operator's routes include Arlington, Edmonds, Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Snohomish, and Stanwood.
* Bus route 103 is a local route that replaces the former route 113 from Mukilteo Speedway and 84th SW, through different streets in Mukilteo and Lynnwood, to Lynnwood City Center Station. It connects Lynnwood City Center Station to Seaway Transit Center in South Everett instead. It no longer serves the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal. *Bus route 117 connects the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal to Lynnwood City Center Station via Mukilteo Speedway. Passengers transfer to Link Light Rail 1 line or ST 515 (weekday peak hours) to continue towards Seattle-Tacoma International Airport via Downtown Seattle. This replaces a section of the former #417 route between Lynnwood and Mukilteo.
* Bus route 18 travels between Everett Station and Mukilteo Station via Seaway Transit Center.
