    Get in

    By plane

    • Westchester County Airport, 240 Airport Road, White Plains (New York), +1 914 995-4860 (airlines). The closest airport, about 25 minutes drive. Rental cars are available.
    • Stewart International Airport, 1180 First St, New Windsor, +1 845 564-2100. Another alternative to the congestion of the 3 major airports. Allegiant Air runs flights from Orlando/Sanford, Punta Gorda (FL), and St. Petersburg/Clearwater, and some seasonal destinations. American Eagle flies from Philadelphia, and JetBlue flies from Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando.
    • Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey, John F. Kennedy International Airport, and LaGuardia Airport: The three major international airports in the New York City area offer service to just about anywhere. Westchester-based taxi and livery cars offer regular service to and from the three internationals from most areas of the county. New York City yellow cabs will take to you Westchester in a pinch, but the fares can be exorbitant. If staying in Westchester, ask if your hotel offers shuttle service.

The hamlet of Katonah offers a variety of dining, community events and library fairs. Katonah is generally calm, and not much can be found open in town after 10 PM besides restaurants.

See Caramoor Center for Music and Arts

The larger town of Bedford is notable for the outdoors opportunities. Numerous reservations are scattered throughout the area, the largest of which is the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation center. WPR provides an excellent space for camping, hiking and biking, with numerous trails, campsites, shelters, and a museum. Bedford is also home to part of the reservoir system which provides New York city its drinking water. Regulated fishing and ice fishing can be found there and in nearby lakes and reservoirs.

A Metro North Train station can be found on the North end of the hamlet, offering easy access to Manhattan, as well as nearby Mount Kisco and Pleasantville. Mount Kisco features numerous restaurants and a New Line Cinema, while Pleasantville offers a similar quaint town experience to that of Katonah, with the notable addition of the Jacob Burns film center, offering independent and foreign films to the surrounding area. Katonah residents know the value of their own town's charm but also note the convenience of having varied offerings so easily accessible.

    Eat King Kone

    Dessert / Ice cream$

A classic drive-up ice cream stand. It has been there for many years and serves soft serve ice cream in many flavors. Great place to go with the family on those hot summer nights. It also has a variety of food if you so desire. There is only outdoor seating and no bathrooms. Line tends to get very long on weekend nights because there are only 2 order windows.

A small coffee cafe that serves many different types of coffee drinks as well as snacks. They have sandwiches for both lunch and breakfast. All the food is simple but delicious. It can be very crowded in the mornings and around lunch hour. There are a few tables inside but only very small ones. Don't bring a large crowd there unless you are taking your food to-go.
